The year is 2082, but, let’s start with the events of ten years prior. Earth is under attack, the Crog are a war race, and are dominating Earth’s defenses. Suddenly, a huge being appears in the sky! He identifies himself as the avatar, and invites Earth to compete in a grand race, ten years from then. The Crog immeadiately pull out, and Earth can’t believe it’s luck. Shortly after, there is a horrible racing crash. In the future, racing has evolved into what is called “Star Racing”, high tech flying machines racing at high speeds. The victim of the crash was Maya Wei, devoted wife and mother. Her husband, Don Wei was so distraught over the accident, that he left their five year old daughter, Eva, at boarding school, never visiting her or even calling her.

On Eva’s 15th birthday, after another call-less day, a mechanical part was delivered for her in the mail. It was the part she’d been waiting for! Rushing outside to a nearby shed, she quickly installed it in a jet bike she had been building, it was the final component. As the first bell of the day rang, she kicked it into gear and jumped the school gates, finally on her way.

Eva was determined to find her father and get answers from him, mainly why he had just left her at boarding school. However, when she arrived at his garage, she was first mistaken for a boy, and only after she deftly repaired a star cruiser, was she even fully noticed. Don asked her name, but, as he had apparantly gotten past his former life, she gave him the name Molly, which she had seen on a convienently placed poster. Eva started working as a mechanic for her father, who was shortly contacted by the president himself!

The president informed Don of the great race, and, that Earth had to participate, or fall prey to the Crog. Don was to form a team and leave that very night! Don enlisted Rick Thunderbolt, the best minor league pilot, and Jordan Wilde, the military’s best gunman. He also hired the world’s best mechanics, a pair of men known as Stan and Kouji. Eva, not about to let her struggle be for nothing, stowed away on the supply truck, and was only discovered after the team had been taken onto the Avatar’s ship.

Don was not pleased. He blatantly stated that he did not like surprises, and did not like female pilots for that matter. It was too late to do anything, however, as the group was soon on the qualification planet of Alwas. Eva was irritated, but tried to make the best of the situation, trying to be help as a mechanic. Once getting to the stadium for the races, she met Aikka, crown prince of the planet Nourasia. The two felt a mutual attraction right then, but did not act on it, rather, starting something of a friendship. Unfortunately for the Earth team, their very first race was sabotaged, and their primary racing machine exploded! Rick was rushed to the hospital and the team was short one pilot.

Earth team scrambled to get a pilot for the next race, but Eva took matters into her own hands. Loading her jet bike into the Whizzing Arrow 2 as an impromptu steering device, she took the machine along with coercing Jordan to be gunner, and proceeded to win the rematch! Don however, wasn’t pleased in the slightest. He chewed the pair out, and then realized he needed “Molly” to fly, as they had a race the very next day! Jordan was able to convince Eva to come back and fly, and the next race was won, this time getting praises from Don. Things seemed to be on the rise for Molly, but, Rick returned, seemingly better than ever!

Unfortunately for Rick, the damage he’d taken from the explosion had affected him on a mental level, keeping him from piloting competently. Luckily for him, Molly was able to jump onto the Arrow and finish the race! After that, Molly was made the official pilot for Earth team. Rick became her and Jordan’s coach, helping them eventually make it to the grand finals on the planet Oban! While still on Alwas, Molly and team Earth found that the prize for winning was a wish. A wish for anything you could possibly want. Molly vowed to win the prize to revive her mother. Rick left for Earth as the rest of the team moved to Oban.

The finals were terrible to team Earth, and on top of that, Don was beginning to suspect that Molly wasn’t exactly who she said she was. Eva and Jordan, meanwhile, found that the ultimate prize was not any wish, as they had been told, but, the winner would become the next Avatar! Earth was able to manage to get enough wins to tie them with the Crog, and in the final, Eva and Jordan teamed with Aikka to finally take out the Crog represenitive, their supreme commander, Kross. Eva crossed the finish line first, but, declined to become the next avatar. This allowed an evil force to escape imprisonment and kill the Avatar! With his last words, he implored Aikka to seek out a relic and crown Eva the new Avatar, so as to save the world.

Don told Eva he knew who she was, and she left with Jordan and Aikka to a second temple, to create an Avatar. The evil force was waiting for them, however, and, revealed that he had orchastrated everything that had taken place during the races, even as far back as Eva’s mother’s death, just so he would be able to control Eva as the Avatar. Jordan, revealing his feelings for Eva, dove into the relic, becoming the next Avatar and killing the evil! Molly, Aikka, and the other remaining teams were able to go back to their own planets, Aikka also admitting his own love for Eva, and promising to show her his kingdom someday. Jordan had to stay on Oban, as the new Avatar, and was saddened to see the woman he loved and his friends leave, but knew it was for the best.

Upon returning to Earth, Eva went to live with her father, switching to a local school. Through their experiences, the two had finally restored their family, and were able to at last let go of Maya.
